Iron Rot - The "New" Nemesis James L. Willa, Willa, Inc. 1995
Abstract: Iron rot has been with us all along, however, it has increase in significance since the changes in water treatment procedures brought about by the EPA's banning of the use of chromate. It is a reason for major repair work, and is starting to rival internal fungus attack as a causative factor. Where to look for, and how to recognize iron rot is reviewed. This paper covers the mechanisms of this type of attack, and ways to avoid or minimize iron rot. The use of alternate hardware material is also discussed.
